Online harassment resources

Online harassment can take many forms and has many associated terms. Simply put, being harassed online means that you are receiving unwanted or unrequested messages that appear to be threatening or malicious in nature.

If you are threatened or in imminent danger, please call 911 immediately. This includes situations where a harasser has demonstrable proof of your location or has threatened you with harm.

If you are the subject of any harassment, please report it as soon as possible to your supervisor. If you are uncomfortable reporting it to your supervisor, please report it to any director or cabinet member. Your supervisor will work with Communications, Human Resources, and University Relations as necessary to help you navigate the situation.

University Relations has put together a list of useful Resources for Responding to Online Harassment as well as a Complainant Resource Guide.

The University Libraries is committed to defending the academic freedom of our employees, as is the University more broadly.
