Development

What We Do / Mission

The Development Office serves the University of Minnesota Libraries by fostering philanthropic engagement with a critical goal of aligning donor interests with our strategic priorities and educational mission. We design our outreach efforts and communications to seek funds to support an incredible variety of work, ranging from maintaining materials held in our Libraries, expanding and growing our Archives and Special Collections, or the many services and resources we provide to our academic communities here in Minnesota, and across the United States.

We work to support the efforts of the Friends of the University of Minnesota Libraries Board of Directors, in order to maintain a seamless communication with new and existing Libraries donors, University of Minnesota alumni, and community members to provide ongoing stewardship of the resources entrusted to our institution.

Our mission remains ever-evolving. By building relationships, and caring for a donor’s unique connection to our Libraries, we further champion innovation, partnership, and connection.

Goals

The goals of the Development Office are to:

  1. Increase awareness among the University and public communities on the importance of the vitality of the Libraries and the vast resources they provide to everyone.
  2. Increase the funding available to the Libraries in order to build upon the resources currently available, as well as implement new initiatives to meet the ongoing and changing needs of our users.
  3. Work with staff and curators to assist in securing ongoing support of the Archives and Special Collections of the Libraries.
  4. Provide responsible stewardship and accountability to donors.
