Library Enterprise Systems Governance (LESGov) Team

Purpose and vision

The Governance Team provides leadership and oversight over enterprise systems shared by at least three of the five University of Minnesota system campus libraries (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, Twin Cities). At present, the systems in the Team's purview are Alma, Primo, Rapido, Alma Digital, and Leganto.  In addition, library enterprise system-wide related topics, such as access management and shared print, are brought to LESGov for discussion and review.

The team's vision is to:

  • Position our libraries for the future through collective thinking and action
  • Exceed expectations of our primary end users
  • Manage our staff and system resources for operational excellence
  • Share responsibility and accountability for our decisions
  • Acknowledge and support our staff

LESGov regularly meets monthly, or as needed, to move forward the team's vision.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Governance Team include:

  • Policy development and application
  • Long-range planning and strategy, including exploring opportunities for future potential shared systems and programs
  • Institutional alignment (e.g., operational excellence)
  • Finance and fiscal stewardship
  • High-level oversight of leadership/coordination groups related to specific systems, if they exist, and adjudicating issues that can’t be resolved within the groups themselves.
  • Developing a shared understanding of the impact of decisions on individual campuses and the university as a whole
  • Representing shared interests of the libraries within the University administrative structure.
  • Acknowledge and support our staff
