Hoteling, meeting, and computer training rooms

Hoteling and touch down spaces

  • There are several spaces available in each of the major library buildings for staff to work outside of their assigned office. They are available for all staff members who must travel to other buildings for work or who need a private space for focused work, meetings, or online training.
  • These spaces are available for libraries staff only. They are not available for students, faculty, or staff in non-libraries units to use.
  • Most of these spaces are for individual use, so they may not be appropriate for in-person meetings.
  • Hoteling spaces will have doors that close for privacy, and most will have monitors and hookups for use with the employee’s work laptop. All hoteling spaces have a room calendar that staff need to use to book the space to avoid conflicts in use. Many of them will require checking out a key to access.
  • Touchdown spaces may be areas designated for light work and do not guarantee quiet, privacy, or technology access. Touchdown spaces are first come/first served and are unsecured but in staff-only areas.

Meeting and computer training rooms

  • The libraries have over two dozen meeting and computer training rooms across Minneapolis and St Paul campus. Seating capacity for these spaces range from 10 to 150, so there is a space that will fit most meeting, instruction, or event needs.
  • Most of these spaces have room calendars that staff need to use to reserve the space. Some rooms are reservable only by libraries staff whereas others are available for public use or events.
  • All rooms should have basic electronic display technology and computers or hookups. Users may need to provide their own laptop or check one out for some spaces.
  • Meeting Rooms Information Spreadsheet contains a full list of rooms by type, amenities, room use policies, room calendars and photos, etc.
  • Meeting Room Use by Libraries Staff provides basic information on internal use policies, guidelines for use, and where to find information on special event spaces.

Technology and space support

  • For assistance with technology problems in hoteling spaces, computer instruction rooms, and conference/meeting rooms, contact Mike Sutliff or your local building manager.
  • For assistance with furniture, supplies, or custodial concerns, contact the building manager.

Lockers

  • There are two staff lockers available for checkout in Magrath, Walter, and Wilson libraries. These are intended to provide staff traveling on campus with a secure place to store belongings while in meetings or doing work outside of their home building.
    • Please reserve these lockers using the resource calendar.
    • Keys for the locks on the lockers are available for checkout from the service desk.
