About the Procedures
Emergency and Disaster Procedures
FOM works with Collection Development to implement the collection disaster plan (Developed by Collection Development to protect the collections)
FOM Implements the facility disaster recovery plan
FOM is the Facility Emergency Response Team leader
Collection Development Disaster Plan
Collection Development will set the standards when they prepare the Collection Disaster Plan. The collection report should have the actual procedures which will be modified to fit each library on campus, i.e., room numbers, floors, locations of supplies, etc . FOM will consult with Collection Development on the Collection Disaster Plans. After all clarifications and concerns are resolved the Collection Development will turn over the plans to FOM. FOM will bring the plan to their locations and discuss the plan and the standards with the Collection Disaster Response Team that will implement the plan in that area. The geographic Collection Disaster Response Team will modify the report with appropriate room numbers, locations of supplies, etc .
FOM will annually contact all Collection Disaster Response Team members to confirm phone numbers and memberships. All FOM will be familiar with all the geographic locations plans and be available to implement them if the FOM representative for that location is absent. Each geographic location will have Collection Disaster Response Team Leader who may be the GF, a FOM member, or a member of the Information Access and Delivery Services.
Each location will form a team to carry out the Collection Disaster Plans. This team will have representation from FOM, Information, Access, and Delivery Services and Collection Development.
Each geographic Collection Response Team will be available to the other locations in an event of an emergency. It is the GFs responsibility to work with Information, Access, and Delivery Services and Collection Development to recruit volunteers to fill vacancies on the response team. Periodically all locations will check to make sure all the emergency supplies are available and in there proper places as specified in the plan. Periodically the GF will contact University Facilities Management to make sure night staff are aware of the location of phone numbers to call if an emergency occurs at night and where the emergency supplies are located.
